Are you a detail-oriented financial professional with a passion for supporting education? TriStarr’s client is seeking an Assistant Business Manager to play a critical role in managing and improving the financial and operational services of a local school district. This position is responsible for overseeing budget management, financial reporting, grants, facilities, custodial services, food services, and transportation, ensuring the district runs smoothly and efficiently.
You will work closely with the Business Manager and administrative teams to assess financial data, implement budget strategies, and drive continuous improvement in business operations. Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Manage the district’s accounting, tax activities, and budgeting process, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
- Budget Planning & Reporting: Assist in the development of annual budgets, analyze financial reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Grant Management: Oversee federal, state, and local grant funding, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
- Business Office Leadership: Supervise payroll, accounts payable, HR, and front office operations to maximize efficiency.
- Liaison & Compliance: Serve as the primary contact for audits, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
- Operational Efficiency: Support improvements in food services, transportation, facilities, and custodial management.
- Staff Development: Provide training and professional development opportunities for HR and Business Office employees.
- Technology & Systems Management: Assist in maintaining financial software, accounting systems, and reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management (public education experience a plus).
- Supervisory experience and familiarity with auditing practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and financial software applications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and satisfactory Act 34, 151, FBI clearance, and Act 168.
