Our client, a local government office, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support daily operations at their municipal office in Columbia, PA. This role reports directly to the Borough Manager and is responsible for a range of clerical and communication duties essential to the smooth functioning of the office. This is a temporary-to-hire opportunity with the potential for a full-time transition in the fall or next year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and answer incoming calls professionally and courteously.
- Provide administrative support by composing routine correspondence, organizing files, and processing mail and emails.
- Assist with ordering office supplies and maintaining office inventory.
- Serve as a backup for the front desk and perform general office duties such as copying, collating, stapling, and distributing materials.
- Run errands on foot or by vehicle as requested.
- Enter and manage data in the office systems and print reports as needed.
- Assist with social media, website updates, and newsletter creation.
- Post meeting agendas and minutes from Borough Boards and Commissions online.
- Review meeting minutes and ensure appropriate staff follow-up.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of related administrative experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of office procedures and business communication formats.
- Must be able to type at least 65 words per minute.
- Valid PA Driver’s License required.

- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with website management and social media platforms is preferred.
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
Details:
- Pay Rate: $20/hr.
- Schedule: 20 hours/week | Two full days (8AM – 4:30 PM) and one-half day. This position is expected to transition into a full-time role, though the exact timeline has not yet been finalized.
