As they continue to grow, our client, located in Lancaster, PA, is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support their Fiscal and Administrative team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic support across multiple programs and departments. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with strong governmental accounting experience who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting informed decision-making through financial insight.
This is a hands-on role focused on accounting operations, financial analysis, and compliance, while partnering closely with leadership teams to drive efficiency and accuracy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of accounting functions, including budget preparation, financial reporting and analysis, account reconciliations, journal entries, monthly close processes, and general ledger maintenance
- Support program and department leaders in developing budgets and monitoring financial performance, including mid-year adjustments, and forecasting
- Prepare and analyze quarterly financial reports and present findings to leadership, both in written and verbal formats
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and program-specific regulations, including adherence to Uniform Guidance
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare supporting documentation for audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Assist with year-end close processes and program-specific financial reporting
- Conduct financial analysis, including historical and trend reporting, using charts and graphs
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify process improvements and enhance financial tracking and reporting procedures
- Participate in regular team and management meetings to support strategic initiatives and organizational goals
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and governmental accounting practices
- Ability to interpret financial data, regulations, and technical documentation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access
- Experience with accounting software and financial systems
- High attention to detail with strong data entry accuracy
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make critical decisions under tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and problem-solve effectively
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field required
- CPA, MBA, or Master’s Degree in a Business-related field preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a governmental environment
Position Details:
- Pay Rate: $28-$34/hr.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am – 4pm (37.5 hours/week, 40-minute lunch)
- Assignment Type: Temp-Hire (5-6 month temporary period before hire)
- Start Date: ASAP, pending interviews and background checks
