The Engagement Administrative Assistant supports a busy outreach center that offers low-barrier access to food, clothing, and essential services.

This role is the “front door” of the center: you’ll welcome guests, coordinate intake, support a small team, and help connect individuals with the right resources—while maintaining dignity, safety, and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet all guests, assess immediate needs, and direct them to the appropriate program or team member
  • Perform client intakes and work closely with volunteers and outreach staff
  • Handle front-desk administrative tasks, including:
    • Check-in logs and daily tracking
    • Answering phones and responding to basic inquiries
    • Data entry and use of intake/database systems
    • Completing incident reports as needed
  • Help connect guests with the appropriate staff member or onsite partner agency
  • Serve as a steady, positive presence for guests, volunteers, partner agencies, and visitors
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client and staff information
  • Assist with basic setup and breakdown of the space, including shelter-related tasks when needed
  • Other duties as assigned to support smooth daily operations of the Outreach Center

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations required
  • Experience with social services, social work, or community outreach is a plus
  • Database experience (Empower Lancaster/HMIS or similar) highly preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is appreciated but not required
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with data entry
  • Valid PA driver’s license
  • Ability to pass required PA Criminal Background Check and PA Child Abuse clearances

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time (around 40 hours/week) and part-time schedules available
  • On-site role at an outreach center in Lancaster, PA
  • Direct-hire position (not temp)
  • Hourly pay range: $18.00 – $20.00/hour, depending on experience and schedule
